Rodman, the NLL and lack of media coverage

so turned on the tube last weekend to see if we could get any lax highlights - at least the games scores... nothing on tsn nor sportsnet... but we did catch the tail-end of a dennis rodman interview when we had it on the score "the home of the hard-core". rodman was at the NLL edmonton rush game... and thus, we thought wicked! at least one network is carrying some highlights of canada's national game.

so we wait for lacrosse to come around again on the rotation... granted it was a pretty busy weekend with NFL playoff action, hockey and b-ball games, and we knew lax wasn't gonna be getting much air time - but thought, we'd probably at least get one-game of NLL highlights, and then game scores for the rest of the league's games that saturday night... but nope! the tape went straight back to the rodman interview...

and the interview had not one comment about the NLL! well, the reporter did say rodman was at the rush game, but that was that... in fact, the reporter didn't even ask rodman if he liked the game, let alone tell us the score (13-12 Calgary btw - game winner scored by d.wray - who for the record can play... who make's canada's jr. national team twice? (the tourney only comes along every 4 yrs). devan did. he's bro t.wray also made it '99. anyway)... the tv spot was about the basketball team rodman's putting together to take on the globetrotters. and the 2000+ women he's been with... what a joke...

makes us remember why the NLL is never gonna go mainstream, and why teams keep "relocating" - when we can't even get lax highlights on tv, let alone game-scores on a freakin' "ticker"... and for the record, there was no one at the edm. game. the stands were empty... what a terrible media stunt, if you wanna call it that. apparently the cost of the rodman appearance was in the neighbourhood of 30 grand...
