JT, No. 1

John Tavares just broke Gary Gait's all-time goal scoring record tonight. Here's a clip of the record-setting goal

Tavares' 597 goals surpasses the all-time goal scoring record held previously by Gary Gait at 596. JT already captured the all-time NLL point record a while ago... With his six points on the record setting night, John Tavares now has 1256 points regular season points!

Victoria products Gary Gait and Tom Marechek sit No. 2 and No. 3 all-time on that points list, with 1091 and 773 respectively. Both, however, will soon be passed by active players Colin Doyle and John Grant who respectively entered this 2008 season with 766 and 719 points.

Congrats goes to Tavares for sure. The guy is a treat to watch and a class act who only wants to see the sport grow. He'll forever be remembered as one of the best all-time players.

No. 11 has been All-Pro every year of his 17-year career, with the only exception being his rookie year... that season, JT captured the NLL title and was named MVP in the Final. Yeah, he's been good.

And he's still one of the best. Tavares scored four goals on the record setting night, in every type of situation: even, pp and sh... He was definitely Buffalo's best player tonight in their 17-13 win over New York.

He was one of only four players to finish last season with over 100 points, and Tavares'is on pace to do it again.
