US Lacrosse has announced the 23 players that will represent the United States at the 2008 ILF U-19 Worlds in BC, Canada. The team was selected following a three-day invitational camp at UMBC, mid-July. 120 players were invited to camp, so selecting the final 23 was difficult. But the States, who are undefeated in U-19 International play, were looking for Stars...
"It works itself out after you have that many sessions," said Jake Reed, chair of the player selection committee, which included representatives from 16 states. "The cream does rise to the top. They're all great players, but we were looking for the ones that stepped up above everyone else. I think we have a great team."
The US team is listed below. Canada, who likely will be the States largest threat in 08, are holding tryouts in BC, ONT and SK until mid-September, with their Final Camp in Vancouver, BC not until Oct. We'll be there for that camp and of course blog the results.
