MDIA Finals, May 19: No. 1 BYU avenged an earlier loss to No. 3 Oregon to capture the 2007 MDIA Collegiate 'A' Divison Final, 16-9. [Pics from collegelax.us]
BYU led 4-3 after one, before exploding in the second quarter where they shut out Oregon and had six different Cougars score to give the team a comanding 10-3 lead going into halftime. Oregon, who in the last three year's have emerged as one of the IA's premier teams fought back but never really got back in the game. BYU took the championship, 16-7. It was the Cougar's first title since 2000, and Oregon's first final's appearance.
BYU had six players named to the All-Tournament Team: Justin Hier, Mark Davis, Tyler Monteath, Murphy Smith and Marc Miller... Clay Knope and Scott Miller represented Oregon.
